A One-Brand Shop on a One-Ferry Island
Driftwood is an independent Sub-Zero refrigeration service for Bainbridge Island. One brand and a narrow speciality on purpose: it is what makes the diagnosis quick, and it is why so much of it can happen on the phone before anyone crosses.
Why the schedule matters more here
Every mainland trade that quotes Bainbridge Island is quoting a crossing. That is why so many calls out here end up as “sometime next week” — one visit does not pay for the boat, so the job waits until three of them do.
Planning the day around the island removes that arithmetic. The van is here for the day either way, so a single warm refrigerator in Port Madison is a job rather than an inconvenience, and the run gets planned by district instead of by whatever came in last.
What we actually work on
Built-in and integrated Sub-Zero refrigeration: full-size built-ins, integrated columns, undercounter drawers, ice makers and dual-zone wine storage. Sealed-system diagnostics, evaporator and defrost faults, control boards, gaskets and water systems, much of it on units that have been in their openings for decades.
What we do not do is everything else. No ranges, no dishwashers, no laundry. A shop that claims all of it is spending its diagnostic time reading manuals in your kitchen.

Diagnose before quoting
Nothing is priced from a phone description. A number arrives after the readings do, and it arrives in writing.

Repair before replacing
An old cabinet with a dead fan is a fan job. We will say plainly when a unit is genuinely finished, and that is not often.

Sub-Zero refrigeration, and no other trade. Seeing the same model families on the same shoreline year after year is what makes a diagnosis quick.

Leave the kitchen as found
Panels off on blankets, floors protected, cabinetry unmarked. A repair should be invisible once the van has gone.
What drives the number
Two things decide what a repair costs: which part has failed, and how much of the cabinet has to come apart to reach it. Neither is knowable from a phone description, which is why the first visit is a flat $89 for the crossing and the diagnosis, and why that $89 is deducted as soon as you say yes to the repair.
The figure for your unit is agreed in writing before anything is opened. If the honest answer is that the cabinet is finished, you will hear that instead — and it is worth knowing that a new built-in costs many times the worst of our repair ranges.
